Article R5121-91 of the French Public Health Code

Classification in the category of medicinal products for which prescription is reserved for certain specialist doctors has the following effects:

1° The prescription or initial prescription of the medicinal product is reserved for doctors who have been awarded a specialist qualification under the conditions set out in decree no. 2004-252 of 19 March 2004 relating to the conditions under which doctors of medicine may obtain a specialist qualification;

2° In the event that the initial prescription of the medicinal product is reserved for certain specialist doctors, the treatment may, after the first prescription, be renewed by any doctor under the conditions of ordinary law. The renewal prescription, when written by a prescriber other than those authorised to write the first prescription, contains the same information as the initial prescription. If necessary, it may include a change in the dosage or duration of treatment.

Le classement dans la catégorie des médicaments à prescription réservée à certains médecins spécialistes a les effets suivants :

1° La prescription ou la prescription initiale du médicament est réservée aux médecins auxquels a été reconnue une qualification de spécialiste dans les conditions prévues par le décret n° 2004-252 du 19 mars 2004 relatif aux conditions dans lesquelles les docteurs en médecine peuvent obtenir une qualification de spécialiste ;

2° Dans l’hypothèse où seule la prescription initiale du médicament est réservée à certains médecins spécialistes, le traitement peut, après la première prescription, être renouvelé par tout médecin dans les conditions de droit commun. L’ordonnance de renouvellement, lorsqu’elle est rédigée par un prescripteur autre que ceux qui sont autorisés à effectuer la première prescription, reprend les mentions de l’ordonnance initiale. En cas de nécessité, elle peut comporter une modification de la posologie ou de la durée du traitement.
