Article R5125-55 of the French Public Health Code

Without prejudice to the provisions of Articles R. 5132-4 and R. 5132-29, a prescription expressed as a non-proprietary name pursuant to Article L. 5125-23 and as defined in Article R. 5121-1 must include at least :

1° The active ingredient of the medicinal product designated by its non-proprietary name ;

2° The strength of the active ingredient;

3° The route of administration and pharmaceutical form.

If the medicinal product prescribed contains several active ingredients, the prescription must indicate the common name and strength of each active ingredient under the conditions set out in 1° and 2° above. The combination of these different active ingredients is indicated by the insertion of a “+” sign between each active ingredient.

The information provided for in 1°, 2° and 3° is included in the register of generics provided for in article R. 5121-5 and in the database provided for in III of article 47 of law no. 2000-1257 of 23 December 2000 relating to the financing of social security.

Sans préjudice des dispositions des articles R. 5132-4 et R. 5132-29, une prescription libellée en dénomination commune en application de l’article L. 5125-23 et telle que définie à l’article R. 5121-1 comporte au moins :

1° Le principe actif du médicament désigné par sa dénomination commune ;

2° Le dosage en principe actif ;

3° La voie d’administration et la forme pharmaceutique.

Si le médicament prescrit comporte plusieurs principes actifs, la prescription indique la dénomination commune et le dosage de chaque principe actif dans les conditions prévues aux 1° et 2° ci-dessus. L’association de ces différents principes actifs est signalée par l’insertion du signe “+” entre chaque principe actif.

Les mentions prévues aux 1°, 2° et 3° figurent dans le répertoire des génériques prévu à l’article R. 5121-5 ainsi que dans la base de données prévue au III de l’article 47 de la loi n° 2000-1257 du 23 décembre 2000 relative au financement de la sécurité sociale.
