Article R5132-18 of the French Public Health Code

The label of magistral or officinal preparations intended for veterinary medicine covered by the regulations of this section must include the following information:

1° Name and address of the pharmacist or dispensing veterinarian ;

2° Registration number ;

3° Posology and instructions for use.

The label is white when the medicinal product is intended for the nasal, oral, perlingual, sublingual, rectal, vaginal or urethral route or is injectable.

It is red, with the words “Not for swallowing” printed in black, when the medicine is intended for other routes of administration. In order to record the registration number, dosage and instructions for use, it may include a blank space of sufficient size.

In addition, the labels must include the information provided for in 12° of article R. 5141-73, in black lettering on a red background.

In all cases, these medicinal products bear a back label with the words “Respect the prescribed doses” in black lettering on a red background.

L’étiquette des préparations magistrales ou officinales destinées à la médecine vétérinaire relevant de la réglementation de la présente section comporte les indications suivantes :

1° Nom et adresse du pharmacien, ou du vétérinaire dispensateur ;

2° Numéro d’enregistrement ;

3° Posologie et mode d’emploi.

L’étiquette est blanche lorsque le médicament est destiné aux voies nasale, orale, perlinguale, sublinguale, rectale, vaginale, urétrale ou est injectable.

Elle est rouge, avec la mention : ” Ne pas faire avaler ” imprimée en caractères noirs, lorsque le médicament est destiné aux autres voies d’administration. Afin d’inscrire le numéro d’enregistrement, la posologie et le mode d’emploi, elle peut comporter un espace blanc de dimension suffisante.

Les étiquettes comportent, en outre, la mention prévue au 12° de l’article R. 5141-73, en caractères noirs sur fond rouge.

Dans tous les cas, ces médicaments portent une contre-étiquette, avec la mention ” Respecter les doses prescrites ” en caractères noirs sur fond rouge.
