Article R5213-22 of the French Labour Code

The purpose of the retraining provided for in Article L. 5213-5 is to enable an employee who has had to interrupt his or her professional activity as a result of illness or accident to return to work and, after a short period, to return to his or her previous job or, where appropriate, to move directly to another job.

Le réentraînement au travail prévu à l’article L. 5213-5 a pour but de permettre au salarié qui a dû interrompre son activité professionnelle à la suite d’une maladie ou d’un accident, de reprendre son travail et de retrouver après une période de courte durée son poste de travail antérieur ou, le cas échéant, d’accéder directement à un autre poste de travail.
