Article R53-23 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The register provided for in the second paragraph of Article 706-57 is kept at the headquarters of each national police service or national gendarmerie unit. It is initialled by the head of the police service or gendarmerie unit. This register is presented, at any time, to the public prosecutor upon request.

Each entry in the register has a serial number. This number is mentioned in the record of the statements made by the person heard, together with the name and address of the service or unit holding the register.

Le registre prévu par le deuxième alinéa de l’article 706-57 est tenu au siège de chaque service de police nationale ou unité de gendarmerie nationale. Il est paraphé par le chef du service de police ou de l’unité de gendarmerie. Ce registre est présenté, à tout moment, au procureur de la République qui en fait la demande.

Chaque inscription sur le registre comporte un numéro d’ordre. Ce numéro est mentionné dans le procès-verbal des déclarations de la personne entendue, ainsi que la dénomination et l’adresse du service ou de l’unité détenant le registre.
