Article R6111-16 of the French Public Health Code

Any healthcare professional who, in the course of his duties within a health care establishment, observes one or more cases of nosocomial infections, informs, on the one hand, the practitioner responsible for the area of activity in which the case(s) appeared in public establishments or the doctor responsible for the patient(s) in other health care establishments and health cooperation groups and, on the other hand, the practitioner of the hospital hygiene operational team mentioned inarticle R. 6111-7.

The practitioner from the operational hospital hygiene team assesses whether the case or cases of which he has been notified correspond to the reporting criteria defined in article R. 1413-79. When this case or these cases correspond to one of these criteria, this practitioner, when he is not the health professional designated in article R. 6111-15, informs the latter of the need to report to the health authorities.

Article R6111-16

Tout professionnel de santé qui, dans l’exercice de ses missions au sein d’un établissement de santé, constate un ou plusieurs cas d’infections nosocomiales, en informe, d’une part, le praticien responsable du pôle d’activité dans lequel le ou les cas sont apparus dans les établissements publics ou le médecin responsable du ou des patients dans les autres établissements de santé, les groupements de coopération sanitaire et, d’autre part, le praticien de l’équipe opérationnelle d’hygiène hospitalière mentionnée à l’article R. 6111-7.

Le praticien de l’équipe opérationnelle d’hygiène hospitalière apprécie si le ou les cas dont il a été avisé correspondent aux critères de déclaration définis à l’article R. 1413-79. Lorsque ce ou ces cas correspondent à l’un de ces critères, ce praticien, lorsqu’il n’est pas le professionnel de santé désigné à l’article R. 6111-15, informe ce dernier de la nécessité d’une déclaration aux autorités sanitaires.
