The Chairman of the Supervisory Board is elected for a term of five years from among the members representing the local authorities or qualified individuals. The chairman’s term of office also ends when he ceases to be a member of the Supervisory Board.
Voting is by secret uninominal ballot and requires an absolute majority of the votes cast. If this majority is not achieved in the first two rounds, a third round is held. A relative majority is sufficient for the third round. In the event of a tie between the candidates with the highest number of votes, the oldest of them is declared elected.
The meeting at which the Supervisory Board holds this election is chaired by the oldest member and the youngest member acts as secretary to the meeting.
