Article R6152-424 of the French Public Health Code

Contractual practitioners wishing to apply for an extension of their contract must submit their application to the director of the establishment in which they wish to work at least six months before the date on which they will reach the age limit.

The extension is granted for periods of six months or one year on the basis of a reasoned opinion from the head of the department or the head of the internal structure to which the practitioner is assigned and the chairman of the establishment’s medical committee, and on presentation of a medical certificate of physical and mental fitness issued by an approved doctor.

The decision is taken by the director of the establishment, who notifies the practitioner at least three months before the start of the period of extended activity.

Les praticiens contractuels qui présentent une demande de prolongation d’activité doivent déposer celle-ci auprès du directeur de l’établissement dans lequel ils souhaitent exercer six mois au moins avant la date à laquelle ils atteindront la limite d’âge.

La prolongation d’activité est accordée par périodes de six mois ou un an sur avis motivés du chef de pôle ou du responsable de la structure interne d’affectation du praticien ainsi que du président de la commission médicale d’établissement et sur présentation d’un certificat médical d’aptitude physique et mentale délivré par un médecin agréé.

La décision est prise par le directeur de l’établissement qui notifie celle-ci au praticien trois mois au moins avant le début de la période de prolongation d’activité.
