Article R714-2 of the French Intellectual Property Code

The National Trademarks Register is kept by the National Institute of Industrial Property.

In it are listed for each trademark:

1° The identification of the applicant and the references of the filing, as well as subsequent acts affecting its existence or scope and, in the case of a collective mark or guarantee mark, the regulations determining the conditions to which the use of the mark is subject;

2° Acts modifying the ownership of the mark or the enjoyment of the rights attached to it; in the event of a claim of ownership, the corresponding writ;

3° Where applicable, the identification, change or cancellation of the representative;

4° Changes of name, legal form or address as well as rectifications of material errors affecting registrations.

No entry shall be made in the register until the filing has been published under the conditions provided for in Article R. 712-8.

Le Registre national des marques est tenu par l’Institut national de la propriété industrielle.

Y figurent pour chaque marque :

1° L’identification du demandeur et les références du dépôt, ainsi que les actes ultérieurs en affectant l’existence ou la portée et, s’il s’agit d’une marque collective ou d’une marque de garantie, le règlement déterminant les conditions auxquelles est subordonné l’usage de la marque ;

2° Les actes modifiant la propriété de la marque ou la jouissance des droits qui lui sont attachés ; en cas de revendication de propriété, l’assignation correspondante ;

3° Le cas échéant, l’identification, le changement ou la radiation du mandataire ;

4° Les changements de nom, de forme juridique ou d’adresse ainsi que les rectifications d’erreurs matérielles affectant les inscriptions.

Aucune inscription n’est portée au registre tant que le dépôt n’est pas publié dans les conditions prévues à l’article R. 712-8.
