Article R744-18 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

For the duration of their stay in administrative detention, foreign nationals are provided with free accommodation and food.
They are given free medical care. If they so request, they are examined by a doctor from the administrative detention centre’s medical unit, which provides medical care during administrative detention if necessary.

Pendant la durée de leur séjour en rétention, les étrangers sont hébergés et nourris à titre gratuit.
Ils sont soignés gratuitement. S’ils en font la demande, ils sont examinés par un médecin de l’unité médicale du centre de rétention administrative, qui assure, le cas échéant, la prise en charge médicale durant la rétention administrative.
