Article R744-36 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

A journalist’s access to the detention centre must not interfere with its operation or the activities carried out there by the State services and third parties involved. The journalist shall respect the security instructions and conditions of the visit established by the head of the detention centre, his deputy or the person in charge of managing administrative files, or, in a detention facility, by the person in charge of the facility or his deputy.

L’accès d’un journaliste au lieu de rétention ne doit pas entraver son fonctionnement ni les activités qu’y exercent les services de l’Etat et les tiers qui y participent. Le journaliste respecte les consignes de sécurité et les conditions de la visite établies par le chef du centre de rétention, son adjoint ou le responsable de la gestion des dossiers administratifs, ou, dans un local de rétention, par le responsable du local ou son adjoint.
