Article R751-8 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

A foreign national placed in administrative detention pursuant to article L. 751-9 may, independently of the examination of their state of vulnerability by the administrative authority when they are placed in detention, be subject, at their request, to an assessment of their state of vulnerability by the French Office for Immigration and Integration under the agreement provided for in article R. 744-19 and, if necessary, by a doctor from the administrative detention centre’s medical unit.
After this assessment, the officer from the Office and the doctor in charge of the assessment may formulate opinions on the possible need to adapt the detention conditions of the foreign national mentioned in the first paragraph or on his or her continued detention if this is incompatible with his or her state of vulnerability.
The person in charge of the detention centre or his/her representative shall, where appropriate, determine the specific conditions of continued detention taking into account the vulnerable situation of the person and, in the event that continued detention is incompatible with this situation, shall notify the competent administrative authority.
Where appropriate, the doctor may also formulate an opinion on the need for medical care during transfer to the Member State responsible for examining the asylum application.

L’étranger placé en rétention administrative en application de l’article L. 751-9 peut, indépendamment de l’examen de son état de vulnérabilité par l’autorité administrative lors de son placement en rétention, faire l’objet, à sa demande, d’une évaluation de son état de vulnérabilité par l’Office français de l’immigration et de l’intégration dans le cadre de la convention prévue à l’article R. 744-19 et, en tant que de besoin, par un médecin de l’unité médicale du centre de rétention administrative.
A l’issue de cette évaluation, l’agent de l’office et le médecin qui en ont été chargés peuvent formuler des avis sur les éventuels besoins d’adaptation des conditions de rétention de l’étranger mentionné au premier alinéa ou sur son maintien en rétention lorsque ce dernier est incompatible avec son état de vulnérabilité.
Le responsable du centre de rétention ou son représentant détermine, le cas échant, les modalités particulières de maintien en rétention tenant compte de la situation de vulnérabilité de la personne et, en cas d’incompatibilité du maintien en rétention avec cet état, en avise l’autorité administrative compétente.
Le cas échéant, le médecin peut également formuler un avis sur la nécessité d’une prise en charge médicale durant le transfert vers l’Etat membre responsable de l’examen de la demande d’asile.
