Article 1127-4 of the French Civil Code

Outside the cases provided for in articles 1125 and 1126, the delivery of an electronic writing is effective when the addressee, after having been able to take cognisance of it, has acknowledged receipt.

If a provision provides that the writing must be read to the addressee, the delivery of an electronic writing to the interested party under the conditions provided for in the first paragraph is equivalent to reading.

Hors les cas prévus aux articles 1125 et 1126, la remise d’un écrit électronique est effective lorsque le destinataire, après avoir pu en prendre connaissance, en a accusé réception.

Si une disposition prévoit que l’écrit doit être lu au destinataire, la remise d’un écrit électronique à l’intéressé dans les conditions prévues au premier alinéa vaut lecture.
