Article 119 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The public prosecutor may attend the questioning, hearings and confrontations of the accused person, the civil party and the assisted witness.

Whenever he has informed the examining magistrate of his intention to attend, the examining magistrate’s clerk must notify him by simple note, at the latest the day before the questioning.

Le procureur de la République peut assister aux interrogatoires, auditions et confrontations de la personne mise en examen, de la partie civile et du témoin assisté.

Chaque fois qu’il a fait connaître au juge d’instruction son intention d’y assister, le greffier du juge d’instruction doit l’avertir par simple note, au plus tard l’avant-veille de l’interrogatoire.
