Article 1313 of the French Code of civil procedure

The bailiff deposits with the notary responsible for settling the estate, or, if there is no notary, either in his office or with a bank, any securities, sums, valuables, jewellery or other precious objects for which the affixing of seals would not appear to be sufficient precaution. He may also deposit cash values with the Caisse des dépôts et consignations.

Article 1313

L’huissier de justice dépose entre les mains du notaire chargé du règlement de la succession, ou, s’il n’y en a pas, soit en son étude, soit entre les mains d’un établissement bancaire, les titres, sommes, valeurs, bijoux ou autres objets précieux pour lesquels l’apposition des scellés ne paraîtrait pas être une précaution suffisante. Il peut également consigner auprès de la Caisse des dépôts et consignations les valeurs en numéraire.
