Article 179-1 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

Any order committing the person under investigation to appear before the police court or the criminal court shall inform him that he must notify the public prosecutor of any change in the address declared at the time of his committal for investigation, by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, until the final judgment in the case. The order also informs him/her that any summons, notification or service made to the last declared address will be deemed to have been made to his/her person.

Toute ordonnance renvoyant la personne mise en examen devant le tribunal de police ou le tribunal correctionnel informe celle-ci qu’elle doit signaler auprès du procureur de la République, jusqu’au jugement définitif de l’affaire, tout changement de l’adresse déclarée lors de sa mise en examen, par lettre recommandée avec demande d’avis de réception. L’ordonnance l’informe également que toute citation, notification ou signification faite à la dernière adresse déclarée sera réputée faite à sa personne.
