Article 2-7 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

In the event of criminal prosecution for arson, legal entities governed by public law may bring a civil action before the court in order to obtain reimbursement, from the convicted party, of the costs they have incurred in fighting the fire.

En cas de poursuites pénales pour incendie volontaire, les personnes morales de droit public peuvent se constituer partie civile devant la juridiction de jugement en vue d’obtenir le remboursement, par le condamné, des frais qu’elles ont exposés pour lutter contre l’incendie.
