In return for the granting of aid for the production and preparation of long-term cinematographic works, production companies ensure the preservation of these works to enable them to be exploited on a long-term basis, consistent with their heritage vocation.
To this end, production companies must provide the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée with a contract signed with a technical service provider to guarantee the security of the material elements of the work for a period of at least five years. In the case of conservation on digital media, this conservation is carried out in accordance with the technical recommendations drawn up by the association known as the “Commission supérieure technique de l’image et du son” (CST).
