Article 223-20 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

The amount of aid is determined according to the financial investment made by the distribution company, which takes the form of :
1° By the payment to production companies of advances granted in respect of the showing of cinematographic works in cinemas, with a view to contributing to the financing of the production of cinematographic works and repayable exclusively from the receipts of the works in question;
2° By the assumption, on behalf of production companies, of all or part of the distribution expenses mentioned in 2° of article 222-9.

Article 223-20

Le montant de l’aide est déterminé en fonction de l’investissement financier de l’entreprise de distribution qui se traduit :
1° Par le versement aux entreprises de production d’avances consenties au titre de l’exploitation en salles de spectacles cinématographiques, en vue de concourir au financement de la production des œuvres cinématographiques et remboursables exclusivement sur les recettes des œuvres considérées ;
2° Par la prise en charge, pour le compte des entreprises de production, de tout ou partie des dépenses de distribution mentionnées au 2° de l’article 222-9.
