Article 244 of the French Customs Code

A mortgage granted on a seagoing vessel or on an undivided share of the vessel extends, unless otherwise agreed, to the body of the vessel and to all accessories, machinery, fittings and tackle.

It does not extend to the cargo.

L’hypothèque consentie sur un bâtiment de mer ou sur une part indivise du bâtiment s’étend, sauf convention contraire, au corps du bâtiment et à tous les accessoires, machines, agrès et apparaux.

Elle ne s’étend pas au fret.
