After questioning the accused in accordance with article 272, the president of the assize court organises a preparatory criminal meeting in chambers. If the accused is in pre-trial detention, the president of the assize court requests a copy of his or her individual detention file. The meeting is held in the presence of the public prosecutor and the lawyers for all the parties, if necessary by any means of telecommunication, in order to seek agreement on the list of witnesses and experts who will be called at the hearing, on the order in which they will give evidence and on the duration of the hearing, in particular where Article 380-2-1 A.
If an agreement is reached, it does not prevent the public prosecutor and the parties from calling witnesses or experts other than those who had been scheduled, or from changing the order in which they are to give evidence. In the absence of an agreement, the procedure shall be as set out in articles 277 to 287.
