Article 321-21 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

The beneficiary of pre-production aid has a period of eighteen months from the signing of the agreement to provide the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée with proof of pre-production of the project.
In exceptional circumstances, and at the reasoned request of the beneficiary, the aforementioned period may be extended for a period not exceeding twelve months, by decision of the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée.

Article 321-21

Le bénéficiaire d’une aide à la préproduction dispose d’un délai de dix-huit mois à compter de la signature de la convention pour remettre au Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée les justificatifs de la préproduction du projet.
A titre exceptionnel, et sur demande motivée du bénéficiaire, le délai précité peut être prolongé d’une durée qui ne peut excéder douze mois, par décision du président du Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée.
