Article 365 of the French Civil Code

The adopted person and his or her descendants have, in the adopter’s family, the succession rights provided for in Chapter III of Title I of Book III.

The adopted person and his or her descendants do not, however, have the status of a reserved heir in respect of the adopter’s ascendants.

L’adopté et ses descendants ont, dans la famille de l’adoptant, les droits successoraux prévus au chapitre III du titre Ier du livre III.

L’adopté et ses descendants n’ont cependant pas la qualité d’héritier réservataire à l’égard des ascendants de l’adoptant.
