Article 44 of the French Customs Code

1. The customs radius comprises a maritime zone and a land zone.

2. The maritime zone is comprised between the coastline and an outer limit located at sea 12 nautical miles measured from the baselines of the territorial sea defined in Article 2 of Order No. 2016-1687 of 8 December 2016.

3. The land area is comprised:

(a) Between the coastline and a line drawn forty kilometres within it ;

b) Between the land border and a line drawn forty kilometres below it.

(4) (Repealed).

5. Distances are calculated as the crow flies without regard to the sinuosity of roads.

1. Le rayon des douanes comprend une zone maritime et une zone terrestre.

2. La zone maritime est comprise entre le littoral et une limite extérieure située en mer à 12 milles marins mesurés à partir des lignes de base de la mer territoriale définies à l’article 2 de l’ordonnance n° 2016-1687 du 8 décembre 2016.

3. La zone terrestre est comprise :

a) Entre le littoral et une ligne tracée à quarante kilomètres en deçà ;

b) Entre la frontière terrestre et une ligne tracée à quarante kilomètres en deçà.

4. (Abrogé).

5. Les distances sont calculées à vol d’oiseau sans égard aux sinuosités des routes.
