Article 456 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The court, either of its own motion or at the request of the public prosecutor, the civil party or the accused, may order any transport useful for the determination of the truth.

The parties and their lawyers shall be called to attend. A record of these operations shall be drawn up.

Le tribunal, soit d’office, soit à la demande du ministère public, de la partie civile ou du prévenu, peut ordonner tous transports utiles en vue de la manifestation de la vérité.

Les parties et leurs avocats sont appelés à y assister. Il est dressé procès-verbal de ces opérations.
