Article 53 of the French Customs Code

1. Customs officers are under the special protection of the law. It is forbidden for any person :

a) insult them, ill-treat them or disturb them in the performance of their duties ;

b) obstruct them in the performance of their duties.

2. The civil and military authorities are obliged, at the first request, to assist customs officers in the performance of their duties.

Article 53

1. Les agents des douanes sont sous la sauvegarde spéciale de la loi. Il est défendu à toute personne :

a) de les injurier, de les maltraiter ou de les troubler dans l’exercice de leurs fonctions ;

b) de s’opposer à cet exercice.

2. Les autorités civiles et militaires sont tenues à la première réquisition de prêter main-forte aux agents des douanes pour l’accomplissement de leur mission.
