Article 59 quater of the French Customs Code

As part of the fight against undeclared profit-making activities that undermine public order and public security, officers from the Directorate General of Public Finance, the Directorate General of Customs and Indirect Taxation, and the Directorate General of Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control shall, either spontaneously or at their request, pass on to officers and agents of the criminal investigation department information and documents of a financial, tax or customs nature, without any obligation of secrecy being invoked. Within the same framework, officers and agents of the criminal investigation police shall, either spontaneously or on request, pass on to officers of the three aforementioned directorates any information likely to have financial, tax or customs implications, without any obligation of secrecy being invoked.

Dans le cadre de la lutte contre les activités lucratives non déclarées portant atteinte à l’ordre public et à la sécurité publique, les agents de la direction générale des finances publiques, de la direction générale des douanes et droits indirects, et de la concurrence, de la consommation et de la répression des fraudes transmettent, spontanément ou sur demande, aux officiers et agents de police judiciaire les renseignements et documents de nature financière, fiscale ou douanière, sans que puisse être opposée l’obligation au secret. Dans ce même cadre, les officiers et agents de police judiciaire transmettent, spontanément ou sur demande, aux agents des trois directions précitées tous les éléments susceptibles de comporter une implication de nature financière, fiscale ou douanière, sans que puisse être opposée l’obligation au secret.
