Article 658 of the French Code of civil procedure

In all cases provided for in articles 655 and 656, the bailiff must notify the interested party of the service, on the same day or at the latest on the first working day, by simple letter containing the same information as the notice of service and recalling, if the copy of the document has been deposited in his office, the provisions of the last paragraph of article 656. The letter also contains a copy of the document of service.

The same applies in the case of service at an elected domicile or where service is made on a legal person.

The bailiff’s stamp is affixed to the envelope.

Article 658

Dans tous les cas prévus aux articles 655 et 656, l’huissier de justice doit aviser l’intéressé de la signification, le jour même ou au plus tard le premier jour ouvrable, par lettre simple comportant les mêmes mentions que l’avis de passage et rappelant, si la copie de l’acte a été déposée en son étude, les dispositions du dernier alinéa de l’article 656. La lettre contient en outre une copie de l’acte de signification.

Il en est de même en cas de signification à domicile élu ou lorsque la signification est faite à une personne morale.

Le cachet de l’huissier est apposé sur l’enveloppe.
