Article 846 of the French Code of civil procedure

The application shall be presented by a lawyer or by a public or ministerial officer in cases where the latter is authorised to do so by the provisions in force.

In cases where the parties are exempted from representation by a lawyer, the application shall be delivered or sent to the court registry by the applicant or by any agent. If it is presented in the course of proceedings, it must indicate the court seised.

La requête est présentée par un avocat ou par un officier public ou ministériel dans les cas où ce dernier y est habilité par les dispositions en vigueur.


Dans les cas où les parties sont dispensées de représentation par avocat, la requête est remise ou adressée au greffe par le requérant ou par tout mandataire. Si elle est présentée à l’occasion d’une instance, elle doit indiquer la juridiction saisie.
