Article 86 of the French Civil Code

In the event of death during a sea voyage and in the circumstances provided for in Article 59, it will be recorded within twenty-four hours by the instrumental officers designated in this article and in the forms prescribed therein.

En cas de décès pendant un voyage maritime et dans les circonstances prévues à l’article 59, il en sera, dans les vingt-quatre heures, dressé acte par les officiers instrumentaires désignés en cet article et dans les formes qui y sont prescrites.
