Article 991 of the French Civil Code

At the first stop in a foreign port where a French diplomatic or consular agent is present, one of the originals or the copy of the will is given, in a closed and sealed envelope, to that agent. This agent sends this envelope to the Minister responsible for the sea, so that the deposit provided for in article 983 is made.

Au premier arrêt dans un port étranger où se trouve un agent diplomatique ou consulaire français, l’un des originaux ou l’expédition du testament est remis, sous pli clos et cacheté, à celui-ci. Cet agent adresse ce pli au ministre chargé de la mer, afin que le dépôt prévu à l’article 983 soit effectué.
