Article 995 of the French Civil Code

The provisions inserted in a will made, during a maritime voyage, for the benefit of the ship’s officers other than those who would be relatives or allies of the testator, shall be null and void.

This will apply whether the will is made in holographic form or is received in accordance with articles 988 et seq.

Les dispositions insérées dans un testament fait, au cours d’un voyage maritime, au profit des officiers du bâtiment autres que ceux qui seraient parents ou alliés du testateur, seront nulles et non avenues.

Il en sera ainsi, que le testament soit fait en la forme olographe ou qu’il soit reçu conformément aux articles 988 et suivants.
