The supporting document provided for in article R. 220-8 must bear the words “Certificate of insurance(art. L. 220-1 of the Insurance Code)” at the top right-hand corner.
This document must also include:
-the name, address and stamp of the insurance company that issued it;
-the number of the insurance policy;
-the name or business name and address of the operator covered by the insurance;
the geographical designation by which the equipment is commonly known; – the period of use;
-an indication of the period of validity, which must be clearly shown in one of the following formulae:
a) Valid from… to ….
b) Valid for… (days or months) from ….
The supporting document must define the means of transport concerned and mention the various components as listed in article R. 220-1.
The elements listed above are entered on the supporting document by the insurance company issuing it or, failing this, by the operator before the installation is put into operation.
The insurance certificate must state that, in accordance with the provisions of article R. 220-8, its presentation only implies a presumption of cover on the part of the insurer. It must contain no information other than that provided for in this article, except, where applicable, a receipt for payment of the premium.
For installations belonging to the State, a certificate of ownership is issued by the competent administrative authority.
