The surveillance and intervention arrangements to be put in place for each establishment take account of the types of activities offered for instruction by the establishment concerned and the skills of the participants to whom these lessons are offered. It complies with the regulations in force concerning traffic or navigation in French maritime or inland waters.
The nautical and land-based surveillance and intervention resources used to teach light sailing are adapted to the characteristics of the basins and sailing areas, the purposes of the instruction, the equipment made available to the participants and their skills. Establishments using the same stretch of water or neighbouring stretches of water take all measures to coordinate their resources. In addition, all measures are taken to call on external resources if necessary.
Each establishment is equipped with a telephone link. The addresses and telephone numbers of the people and organisations to be contacted in an emergency, as well as details of how to access the telephone line, are posted in a prominent place near the telephone. The location of and access to the telephone used to alert emergency services is clearly indicated.
