Article A322-90 of the French Sports Code

Breathing gases and mixtures are as follows:

1° Binary mixtures :

– nitrox is a breathing mixture composed of oxygen and nitrogen in different proportions to air;

– heliox is a breathing mixture composed of oxygen and helium;

2° Ternary mixtures: trimix, a breathing mixture composed of oxygen, nitrogen and helium;

3° Pure oxygen, used in rebreathers and for decompression.

Les gaz et mélanges respiratoires sont les suivants :

– le nitrox est un mélange respiratoire composé d’oxygène et d’azote dans des proportions différentes de celle de l’air ;

– l’héliox est un mélange respiratoire composé d’oxygène et d’hélium ;

2° Mélanges ternaires : le trimix, mélange respiratoire composé d’oxygène, d’azote et d’hélium ;

3° L’oxygène pur, utilisable dans les recycleurs et en décompression.
