Article D133-23 of the French Tourism Code

If the application is incomplete with regard to the conditions required for the requested classification, the representative of the State in the département will notify the mayor or, where applicable, the president of the public establishment for inter-communal cooperation or the mixed syndicate, within two months, specifying the missing documents.

Lorsque le dossier est incomplet au regard des conditions exigées pour le classement sollicité, le représentant de l’Etat dans le département en avise le maire ou, le cas échéant, le président de l’établissement public de coopération intercommunale ou du syndicat mixte, dans le délai de deux mois en lui précisant les pièces manquantes.
