Article D133-26 of the French Tourism Code

In order to check that they comply with the characteristics required for their classification, tourist offices are open to visits by agents of the State administration responsible for tourism or agents of an administration authorised by decision of the State representative in the département.

Pour la vérification de leur conformité aux caractéristiques exigées pour leur classement, les offices de tourisme admettent la visite des agents de l’administration de l’Etat chargée du tourisme ou des agents d’une administration habilités par décision du représentant de l’Etat dans le département.
