Article D1332-7 of the French Public Health Code

I-The theoretical maximum use of a swimming pool, corresponding to the capacity of the pool enclosure, is three people per 2 square metres of open-air water and one person per square metre of covered water. The surface area of diving or snorkelling pools permanently reserved for this purpose is not taken into account when determining the surface area of water areas.

The person in charge of the swimming pool must set the following figures and display them at the entrance to the pool:

1° The maximum instantaneous attendance at the pool, distinguishing between the maximum instantaneous capacity of swimmers within the pool enclosure, which may not exceed the theoretical maximum attendance at the pool, and the maximum instantaneous capacity of other people;

2° The maximum daily attendance at the pool, corresponding to the maximum daily capacity of people present within the pool enclosure.

II. -The maximum instantaneous number of bathers in whirlpool baths is visibly displayed near the pool. A whirlpool bath is a specific pool with seated or semi-recumbent areas, used for leisure or well-being, and equipped with a specific air, water or air and water injection device.

The minimum volume of water per bather in a whirlpool bath is set by an order of the Ministry of Health.

III. -In the vicinity of whirlpool baths, a warning not to exceed 15 minutes’ use and advising against access by children under the age of ten is displayed.

IV – The provisions of I and II do not apply to the facilities mentioned in IV of article D. 1332-4, with the exception of the first paragraph of I which applies to the facilities mentioned in 1° of IV of article D. 1332-4.

Article D1332-7

I-La fréquentation maximale théorique d’une piscine, correspondant à la capacité d’accueil de l’enceinte de la piscine, est de trois personnes pour 2 mètres carrés de plan d’eau en plein air et d’une personne par mètre carré de plan d’eau couvert. N’est pas prise en compte dans la détermination de la surface des plans d’eau la surface des bassins de plongeon ou de plongée réservés en permanence à cet usage.

Sont fixées par la personne responsable de la piscine et affichées à l’entrée de la piscine :

1° La fréquentation maximale instantanée de la piscine, distinguant la capacité maximale instantanée en nageurs dans l’enceinte de la piscine, qui ne peut dépasser la fréquentation maximale théorique de la piscine, et la capacité maximale instantanée d’autres personnes ;

2° La fréquentation maximale journalière de la piscine, correspondant à la capacité maximale journalière en personnes présentes dans l’enceinte de la piscine.

II.-La fréquentation maximale instantanée en baigneurs des bains à remous est affichée de manière visible à proximité du bassin. Un bain à remous est un bassin spécifique comprenant des places assises ou semi-allongées, à usage ludique ou de bien-être, et équipé d’un dispositif d’injection spécifique d’air, d’eau ou d’air et d’eau.

Le volume minimal d’eau par baigneur d’un bain à remous est fixé par un arrêté du ministère chargé de la santé.

III.-A proximité des bains à remous est affichée une recommandation à ne pas dépasser une durée d’utilisation de 15 minutes et déconseillant l’accès aux enfants de moins de dix ans.

IV.-Les dispositions des I et II ne s’appliquent pas aux installations mentionnées au IV de l’article D. 1332-4, à l’exception du premier alinéa du I qui s’applique aux installations mentionnées au 1° du IV de l’article D. 1332-4.
