I. – The hospitalisation sector of the paediatric critical care unit includes a minimum number of beds determined as follows:
1° At least eight beds for the paediatric critical care unit referred to in 1° of R. 6123-34-2. In the event of the creation of a hospitalisation sector or the reconstruction or redevelopment of an existing sector, the unit must include at least ten beds;
2° At least six beds for the paediatric intensive care unit referred to in 2° of article R. 6123-34-2. In the event of the creation of a hospitalisation sector, or the reconstruction or redevelopment of an existing sector, the unit comprises at least eight beds;
3° At least four beds for the multi-purpose paediatric intensive care unit referred to in 1° or 2° of article R. 6123-34-2 ;
4° At least four beds for the derogatory multi-purpose paediatric intensive care unit in category 3° of article R. 6123-34-2;
5° At least four beds for the paediatric haematology intensive care unit as described in 4° of article R. 6123-34-2.
II. – By way of derogation, the Director General of the Regional Health Agency may authorise the holder to have a paediatric intensive care unit with at least four beds for the following reasons :
1° When the distance from the health establishment with such a unit imposes excessive travel times on a significant proportion of the population;
2° When the paediatric intensive care unit is adjacent to a neonatal intensive care unit with a shared organisation of medical duty.
