The Maternity Ward provides pre- and post-natal care for the mother, as well as care for healthy newborn babies. The rooms in the post-delivery sector include a maximum of two beds for mothers with cots for their children. If necessary, each patient may be allocated a single room.

In the event of the creation of an inpatient sector, or the reconstruction or redevelopment of an existing sector, the latter must include at least 80% single rooms, and the useful surface area of each room, which includes a specific sanitary block, must never be less than 17 square metres for a single room and 23 square metres for a room with two beds.

In addition, there is a room on each floor where healthy children can be grouped together. This room can accommodate at least half of the newborns present, during the night, and is arranged in such a way as to enable them to be supervised. Childcare is provided either in a shared room or in a specially equipped area in the mother’s room.

Le secteur d’hospitalisation de la mère et de l’enfant permet d’assurer les soins précédant et suivant l’accouchement pour la mère ainsi que les soins aux nouveau-nés bien portants. Les chambres du secteur d’hospitalisation après l’accouchement comprennent au maximum deux lits de mères avec les berceaux de leurs enfants. En cas de nécessité, chaque patiente peut bénéficier d’une chambre individuelle.

En cas de création d’un secteur d’hospitalisation, de reconstruction ou de réaménagement d’un secteur existant, celui-ci comprend au minimum 80 % de chambres individuelles, et la surface utile de chaque chambre, qui comporte un bloc sanitaire particulier, n’est jamais inférieure à 17 mètres carrés pour une chambre individuelle et à 23 mètres carrés pour une chambre à deux lits.

En outre, il existe un local par étage où les enfants bien portants peuvent être regroupés. Ce local peut recevoir au minimum la moitié des nouveau-nés présents, pendant la nuit, et est aménagé de manière à permettre leur surveillance. Les soins de puériculture sont réalisés soit dans un local commun, soit dans un espace spécialement aménagé de la chambre de la mère.
