All neonatal intensive care units have a minimum of six intensive care beds. The health establishment where it is located has a neonatology unit with at least nine beds, including at least three beds allocated to intensive care.
The neonatal intensive care unit is located in the same building or in the immediate vicinity on the same site as the birth sector of the obstetrics unit. If a neonatal intensive care unit is created, or an existing unit is rebuilt or refitted, the premises making up this unit are located in the same building, in the immediate vicinity of the obstetrics unit’s birthing sector and close to the neonatology unit.
