In public health establishments and private establishments of collective interest, the emergency medicine structure is placed under the responsibility of a hospital practitioner of polyvalent emergency medicine or a doctor with professional experience equivalent to at least two years in this discipline and holding a diploma of complementary specialised studies in emergency medicine. In public establishments, this doctor is also a full practitioner and actually carries out his duties in the establishment’s emergency medicine structure(s).
In other health establishments, the emergency medicine structure is coordinated by a doctor with the minimum experience mentioned in the previous paragraph.
A doctor who holds a diploma of specialised studies or a professional qualification from the French medical association (Ordine) and who can provide evidence of at least four years’ professional experience in an emergency medical facility may be appointed manager or co-ordinator of an emergency medical facility, depending on the case.
By way of derogation, a doctor who, when an establishment is granted authorisation to carry out an activity mentioned in article R. 6123-1, as the case may be, is responsible for or coordinates an emergency medical facility in this establishment and who does not meet the conditions set out in the previous paragraphs, may continue to carry out the function of manager or coordinator of an emergency medical facility. In the case of a public health establishment, this doctor continues to carry out his duties under the conditions defined in article L. 6146-3.
