The healthcare establishment managing the peritoneal dialysis will, at the patient’s request or on medical prescription, temporarily transfer the patient to a haemodialysis centre, or, if necessary, refer the patient to another treatment modality or to hospital. When peritoneal dialysis is no longer suited to the patient’s condition, the patient is always transferred to a haemodialysis centre and then, if his condition allows, to a haemodialysis method outside the centre.
The patient is transferred to a haemodialysis centre under the conditions set out in article D. 6124-67. Where this is provided for by agreement, the agreement specifies the number of patients treated by peritoneal dialysis to be taken into account for the number of back-up stations.
