I.-Reference medical biology laboratories are designated for a period of five years. For the designation of reference medical biology laboratories, a call for applications is launched by the Minister for Health at least eight months before the expected date of publication of the order establishing the list of reference medical biology laboratories provided for inArticle L. 6211-19 of the Public Health Code. This call for applications is made on the basis of specifications, the model for which is set by order of the Minister for Health.
A selection committee for reference medical biology laboratories, whose members are appointed by order of the Minister for Health for a period of five years, in particular on the basis of their qualifications and work in the fields of medical biology or the diseases concerned, proposes a draft list of selected candidate medical biology laboratories to the Minister for Health following the call for applications.
The secretariat of the selection committee is provided by the Directorate General for Health.
II – Medical laboratories may be included on the list during the five-year period for medical biology tests or diseases that are not covered by a reference medical biology laboratory included on this list at the end of the call for applications mentioned in the first paragraph of I. To this end, a new call for applications is issued by the Minister for Health. The selection committee mentioned in the second paragraph of I shall propose a new draft list of candidates. A medical biology laboratory registered on the list during this five-year period is designated as the reference medical biology laboratory for the time remaining until the five-year expiry of the list.
