The practice of physical and sporting activities is an integral part of education and culture. It is exercised with respect for the principles of the Republic and contributes to social integration, intergenerational solidarity and learning about citizenship and democratic life.
It constitutes a necessary dimension of public policies aimed in particular at equality of opportunity, preserving and restoring the health and moral and physical well-being of individuals and, more generally, personal fulfilment and collective progress.
The law promotes equal access to physical activities and sport, without discrimination based on sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, actual or assumed membership of a nation or ethnic group, religion, language, social status, political or philosophical opinions or any other status.
