Article L111-9 of the French Insurance Code

A durable medium, within the meaning of this code, is any instrument that enables the policyholder, insurer, intermediary or subscriber of a group insurance contract to store information addressed to them personally, so that they can refer to it at a later date for a period of time appropriate to the purposes for which the information is intended, and which allows the identical reproduction of the information stored.

Constitue un support durable, au sens du présent code, tout instrument offrant la possibilité à l’assuré, à l’assureur, à l’intermédiaire ou au souscripteur d’un contrat d’assurance de groupe de stocker des informations qui lui sont adressées personnellement, afin de pouvoir s’y reporter ultérieurement pendant un laps de temps adapté aux fins auxquelles les informations sont destinées, et qui permet la reproduction à l’identique des informations conservées.
