Article L112-6-1 of the French Monetary and Financial Code

Payments made or received by a notary on behalf of the parties to a deed received in authentic form and giving rise to land publicity must be made by bank transfer. A decree in the Conseil d’Etat specifies the procedures for carrying out this transfer and the threshold below which other methods of payment remain authorised.

Les paiements effectués ou reçus par un notaire pour le compte des parties à un acte reçu en la forme authentique et donnant lieu à publicité foncière doivent être assurés par virement. Un décret en Conseil d’Etat précise les modalités d’exécution de ce virement ainsi que le seuil au-dessous duquel d’autres modalités de paiement demeurent autorisées.
