Professionals who, by electronic means, provide a reservation or rental service or put people in touch with each other with a view to renting accommodation located in France may not make any payment to the lessor by means of a monetary value stored in electronic form and usable by means of a physical medium within the meaning of article L. 315-9 of this code.

Payments made or received by a notary on behalf of the parties to a deed received in authentic form and giving rise to land publicity must be made by bank transfer. A decree in the Conseil d’Etat specifies the procedures for carrying out this transfer and the threshold below which other methods of payment remain authorised.

Deliveries of cereals by producers to cooperatives are paid for by cheque or transfer to a credit institution, a payment institution or an electronic money institution as part of the provision of payment services.
