In the event of the alienation of a terrestrial motor vehicle or its trailers or semi-trailers, and only in respect of the vehicle alienated, the insurance contract shall be suspended ipso jure from midnight on the day following the date of alienation; it may be terminated by either party giving ten days’ notice.
If the contract is not reinstated by agreement of the parties or terminated by one of them, it shall be terminated ipso jure on expiry of a period of six months from the date of alienation.
The insured must inform the insurer of the date of alienation by letter, message on a durable medium or the means provided for in article L. 113-14.
No indemnity may be paid to the insurer in the above cases of cancellation.
All the provisions of this article apply in the event of the alienation of ships or pleasure boats, whatever the mode of transport or propulsion used.
