Labile blood products intended for direct therapeutic use are stored, with a view to their distribution and issue, at the Établissement Français du Sang and at the Armed Forces Blood Transfusion Centre. Health establishments and army hospitals authorised for this purpose by the administrative authority after receiving the opinion of the Établissement français du sang or, where applicable, the army blood transfusion centre, under conditions defined by decree, and the health cooperation groupings mentioned in article L. 6133-1 authorised according to the same procedure and under conditions defined by decree, may also store these products with a view to issuing them. Labile blood products remain under the supervision of a doctor or pharmacist. A decree specifies the section of the national order of pharmacists to which this pharmacist must belong, with the exception of those covered by the provisions of article L. 4138-2 of the Defence Code.
In order to meet specific defence needs, labile blood products may also be stored with a view to being dispensed:
1° The medical centres, mentioned in article L. 6326-1, of national navy vessels;
2° The medical centres mentioned in the same article L. 6326-1, for their mobile teams carrying out their mission in military aircraft;
3° The brigade de sapeurs-pompiers de Paris and the bataillon de marins-pompiers de Marseille, mentioned in article L. 722-1 of the code de la sécurité intérieure, as part of the medical transport to an army hospital or health establishment of sick or injured military personnel taking part in an operational mission.
The structures mentioned in 1° to 3° of this article are authorised to store labile blood products by the administrative authority after receiving the opinion of the armed forces blood transfusion centre under conditions defined by decree. Labile blood products are under the supervision of a doctor or pharmacist covered by article L. 4138-2 of the Defence Code.
Labile blood products may only be dispensed on medical prescription.
